The Buffalo News: One Newcomer Wins
Jane L. Corwin will be the only new face in Western New York’s Assembly delegation. Corwin faced only minor party opposition in her 142nd District race after defeating incumbent Michael Cole in the Republican primary two months ago.
Corwin easily defeated Jeffrey A. Bono III, an unsuccessful challenger in the Republican primary who ran on the Working Families line. Corwin, a former Talking Phone Book executive, also had the Conservative and Independence lines. There was no Democratic candidate.
With 95 percent of the vote counted in a district that includes parts of Erie and Niagara counties, Corwin was ahead with 89 percent, compared with 11 percent for Bono.
