Jane Corwin Announces Candidacy for State Assembly
Clarence, N.Y. – Former business woman, long-time community activist and full-time mother of three, Jane Corwin, today announced she is officially seeking to represent New York’s 142nd District in the State Assembly. With her husband Phil and three children by her side, Corwin made the announcement this morning at a news conference at Clarence Town Park.
Corwin said she is running because she can no longer sit on the sidelines and watch as career politicians go to Albany and lose track of their values. Albany has been coerced by special interests as Western New York’s economy continues to decline.
“I share the disappointment of my neighbors,” Corwin said, “that in Albany divisive partisan politics and special interests now trump public good. I am concerned about a dysfunctional state government that has continuously resisted reform and failed to create economic opportunity for our residents.”
Corwin began her career on Wall Street, and later returned to Western New York and took a position as Vice President of the Talking Phone Book. She eventually became a full-time mother of three, and continued to serve the Talking Phone Book on the Board of Directors as Secretary and Treasurer.
In addition to her private sector business experience, Jane is an active member of her community. She is President and Founder of the Phillip M. and Jane Corwin Foundation, which provides direct funding for educational, medical and religious charities to benefit children. She is affiliated with numerous other charitable, philanthropic, and community organizations.
Corwin noted: “Serving my community has been deeply rewarding to me. I hope to take that experience, along with my experience in the business world and as a mom, to Albany where I will be a voice for reform… a voice for the taxpayer… and a voice for change.
