An Open Letter to the Constituency
This past November 4th New Yorkers participated in one of the most historic elections in american history. Not only was the first ever African-American elected President but control of the New York State Senate changed hands for the first time in 60 years. With the recent upheaval in the financial markets and an impending retraction of the national economy, New York is facing a fiscal challenge not seen since the Great Depression.
Despite the uncertainty you, the voters of the 142nd District, elected me your representative to the New York State Assembly.
I do not take your decision lightly and I am humbled and honored by your choice. With 89% voter support I recognize my mandate comes not from Republicans alone but from Democrats, Independents and Conservatives alike.
I pledge to you I will work to the best of my ability to serve the interests of all the people of this district. I will bring to the office a level of professionalism and respect reflective of our community. I will provide a strong voice so that our needs do not succumb to the needs of downstate. I will be honest and forthright in both word and deed.
But in order to be successful I will need your help. I will need you to communicate with me the issues affecting you and your family. I will need you to help me set priorities and provide feedback. I will need to know what I am doing well and what I need to improve.
In the coming months I will be holding town hall meetings throughout the district. I encourage you to not only attend but to participate as well. Please watch this website for dates and locations.
As always, I may be reached at any time via email or through my office. Please see the CONTACT US section of this website for more information.
Thank you again for your vote and your support. Together we can restore New York to the strength and power of "The Empire State".
Sincerely,
Jane L. Corwin
